How to ride Chiboard crosswise
Riding crosswise happens by placing Chiboard deck on top of Chiboard roller in a perpendicular direction. Crosswise chiboarding is a side to side workout. Muscles and reflexes are mainly trained towards both sides. Thus your body gets to learn to use both sides in harmony like right and left lobes of the brain, like both of the legs, or both of the arms.
One does not simply start to ride right away. It is a process that may take from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, maybe more. There are many factors affecting the learning process such as the past workouts, sports performed before, what you ate yesterday, or how much sleep you had last night. It definitely shortens the process but it is absolutely not a must to have an history with sports. You can also have a look at lengthwise chiboarding.
- Before you begin, please watch the video on http://chiboard.co/how-to-ride.
- Also, be sure to read everything.
- Be sure that stoppers are installed tightly on both tails.
- Find a solid railing or counter-like object to hold while riding Chiboard with enough space for the deck in front of it.
- The ground should not be slippery or you should better use one of the Chiboard carpets.
- Put Chiboard on the floor so that the roller and the deck are perpendicular.
- Position the roller significantly away from the tail matching your dominant foot. Meaning, that a larger space of the deck is left in front of your dominant foot.
- Make sure it is stable.
- Make sure your best friend is behind you and spotting you.
- Carefully put your dominant foot on the longer side of the deck and check if it is stable.
- If is is not stable, gently slide the deck towards longer side to a stable position.
- If it is stable go on and step on the longer side with the same foot.
- Put the other foot on the shorter side of the deck but do not give your full weight there before checking your stability. Distance between your feet should be about one shoulder length.
- Bend your knees slightly with a straight but not tightened upper body. Look straight ahead.
- Hold on to the railing gently.
- Slowly apply force to your free foot to loose the other tail from ground. This may not happen right away. So, take your time and try this for at least 10 minutes to get the feeling of the freely moving deck.
- Pay attention to keep your center of gravity between your feet.
- Slowly try to bring the center of your movement to your hips while loosening your hands.
- Try this at least another 10 minutes to feel the control in your legs and core parts.
- After getting used to these movement, try to let go your hands slowly but be prepared to hold the railing back if you lose control.
- At the end, open your hands naturally to the sides and let them help finding your balance.
- Use your arms, upper body, core, hips, legs, and whatever you got in harmony. The best way to do this is to use your mind by freeing it. That’s why it’s our motto ;)

How to ride Chiboard lengthwise
Riding lengthwise happens by placing Chiboard deck on top of Chiboard roller in a parallel direction. Lengthwise chiboarding is a workout in front and back directions. Muscles and reflexes are trained mainly towards front and back. Thus your body gets to learn to use the back muscles, hips and abs in harmony.
This never happens right away. It is a process that may take from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, maybe more. There are many factors affecting the learning process like the past workouts, sports performed before, what you ate yesterday, or how much sleep you had last night. It definitely shortens the process but it is absolutely not a must to have an history with sports. You can also have a look at lengthwise chiboarding.
